Dear colleagues and friends,

We are pleased to welcome psychiatrists, neurologists, general practitioners, psychologists, nurses, social workers, but also pharmacologists, neuroscientists and all professionals involved in elderly care, at the 1st Hellenic Congress of Psychogeriatrics, focusing on the topic of «Convergences and Perspectives in Psychogeriatrics». The Congress is being organized by the Hellenic Psychogeriatric Association (HPA), member of the Ιnternational Psychogeriatric Association (IPA), in collaboration with the section of Old Age Psychiatry of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association.

Internationally, mental health of older adults  is, now, recognized as an important public health issue and the complex interplay between mental health problems, physical health and aging is getting more clear. Our conference aims to serve as a forum for convergence between the various scientific disciplines, which contribute to the care of the mental health of older people, either in tertiary or primary health care. The Organizing Committee of the conference aspired to design an integrated scientific program, facilitating the search for a solid and constructive synthesis. Such a synthesis could eventually lead to interesting research initiatives, to the upgrade of the services provided to older adults with mental health problems, and to the consolidation of psychogeriatrics in daily clinical practice.

The congress will be taking place in Athens, Greece, on November 24^th-26^th, 2023, with the participation of both prominent Greek healthcare professionals and scientists from various scientific fields (e.g. otolaryngologists, neuroradiologists), and international distinguished scientists, as our guest speakers, who deal with geriatric psychiatry and who will share with us their knowledge and experience. The scientific prestige of our speakers, as well as their fruitful interaction with the participants of  the congress, will immensely contribute to reaching the goals of this congress.

Your active participation during the roundtables but also through presenting your scientific papers, on topics related to the field of Psychogeriatrics and to the broader interface of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, is of paramount importance for the success of the congress. We are excited to welcome your work submission and your contribution will be highly appreciated.
